Meet Dr. Nicole Tyer
BIOGRAPHY / ABOUT ME
Dr. Nicole Tyer is double board certified in Internal Medicine and Obesity Medicine. She finds joy in giving her patients the time and dignity they deserve through highly comprehensive and compassionate care, listening to her patients concerns so they are fully understood, and to help find pragmatic solutions to improve their health. Her patients describe her as thorough, caring, and responsive.
Dr. Tyer was born and raised in Southern California. She completed her B.S. in Biochemistry at UCLA in the Honors Program. She earned her M.D. from Hahnemann University Hospital / Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She completed her Internship, Residency, and Chief Residency in Internal Medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and one year of additional training in Metabolism and Diabetes at UCLA, where she performed hormonal research on adipocyte stem cells.
Following her training, Dr. Tyer worked for 7 years on the East coast. She practiced Internal Medicine, caring for highly complex patients at the world-renowned Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and in a clinical setting at Cornell Medical Center. She taught medicine as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at Cornell Medical School, teaching over a dozen medical school classes about the doctor-patient relationship and problem-based learning, and she also spear-headed resident rotations at the MSKCC Urgent Care Center. Yale New Haven Health then recruited Dr. Tyer to serve as the Assistant Program Director for the Yale New Haven Health Internal Medicine Residency at Greenwich Hospital in Connecticut.
Dr. Tyer returned home to sunny Los Angeles in 2019. She offers a wide range of services including primary care, internal medicine, pre-operative evaluations, weight management consultations, and concierge care. Dr. Tyer’s accomplishments include presenting at regional and national conferences and publishing numerous peer reviewed articles, case reports, and book chapters. She has received many awards for her research, teaching, and clinical care.
Dr. Tyer lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two children. Her personal passions include hiking, swimming, yoga, cooking, and music.
